If you’ve owned a house for any significant length of time here in Ohio, you know that winter can be brutal, and you’re used to preparing your home for the cold weather each and every year. However, if you’re a newer homeowner, or if you’ve just moved to our area, you might benefit from reading some property winterizing tips. Here are some simple ones to keep in mind.
First, think about places where moisture is bound to be around your home. When temperatures are low enough, that moisture freezes and can wreak tremendous havoc on your property. Think about your gutters, drainage, pool, sprinkler system, and exterior spigots. Drain and shut down all exterior plumbing systems, if possible.
Also, leaving your expensive lawn care equipment or patio furniture to be exposed to the elements during winter can effectively destroy them, if this happens repeatedly. Take a few minutes to bring them indoors, or at least cover them.
